Senior Systems Test Engineer

About the role

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Systems Test Engineer for its DePuy Synthes team in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The role focuses on the research, design characterization, verification and risk assessment of medical implants and instruments.

Key responsibilities

• Understand device design and core technologies to develop test methods that meet complex requirements.
• Generate and execute test plans and protocols derived from feasibility assessments, functional requirements and risk analysis.
• Lead verification testing efforts, including extended reliability tests, and produce traceable test reports.
• Select, implement and validate test instrumentation; configure fixtures and operate data acquisition systems.
• Communicate test findings, technical challenges and proposed solutions to cross‑functional teams.
• Perform investigational tests to support new product development and quality investigations.
• Mentor students and technical staff and assist with internal and external quality audits.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Electrical, Biomedical or related engineering field; Master’s preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in the medical device industry.
• Minimum 4 years of experience with electromechanical test equipment.
• Strong understanding of design controls and medical device development processes.
• Experience writing test plans, protocols and performing formal testing in a regulated environment.

Required skills

• Electromechanical test equipment and fixture development.
• Lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, environmental chambers, autoclaves, etc.).
• Data acquisition systems and programming (LabVIEW, basic Python).
• 3D motion tracking or optical test/inspection systems.
• Battery and charger technology knowledge.
• PLM application usage.
• Good Laboratory Practice / Good Documentation Practice.
• Statistical methods and data analysis.
