Senior Systems Safety Engineer, Airworthiness

About the role

BETA Technologies is seeking a highly motivated Senior Systems Safety Engineer to lead safety assessments for its electric aircraft and related systems, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations and safe product design.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute safety assessment processes for BETA systems and equipment.
• Collaborate on new product designs to ensure safety and certifiability, establishing failure rates for novel components.
• Work with regulators to meet safety and reliability requirements and present analyses for certification.
• Evaluate in‑service events, mentor junior safety engineers, and support ongoing operational safety assessments.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in a relevant discipline.
• 5+ years experience with systems safety assessment for commercial aviation following ARP4754A and SAE ARP4761.
• Proficiency in FHA, FTA, PSSA, SSA, ZSA, PRA, CMA, FMEA and Development Assurance Level allocation.
• Experience generating, validating and verifying safety requirements.

Required skills

• ARP4754A and SAE ARP4761 guidelines.
• Functional Hazard Assessment, Fault Tree Analysis, Preliminary System Safety Assessment, System Safety Assessment, Zonal Safety Analysis, Particular Risk Analysis, Common Mode Analysis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
• Safety requirements generation, validation, verification.
• CAFTA tool, reliability engineering methods (including MSG‑3), FRACAS, Polarion PLM.
