Senior Swiss CNC Applications Engineer

About the role

Precision 360, a division of Morris Group, Inc. (a third-generation, family-owned machine tool distributor serving US manufacturers of precision machined parts), is hiring a Senior Swiss CNC Applications Engineer in Los Angeles. The engineer meets and exceeds customer needs in an industrial environment by running and processing parts on Tsugami machine tools, and works on turnkey projects, pre-sales and customer training.

Key responsibilities

• Run turnkey projects, demonstrations and other customer-related projects on time and within budget.
• Carry out pre-sale activities and reviews, including customer visits, opportunity evaluation, machine assessment and recommendations, part processing recommendations, and development of turnkey proposals.
• Develop and run custom demonstrations and train customers on the safe set-up and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes, grinders, Swiss-style lathes and multi-tasking machines.
• Make accurate cost estimates, write engineering reports and interpret plans and specifications.
• Travel to customers for onsite training and engineering assistance.

Required profile

• 6+ years of applicable experience in an engineering role.
• Experience in sliding headstock (Swiss) CNC machine tool engineering and manufacturing.
• In-depth knowledge of the machine tool industry and the product lines represented by the company.
• Able to think quickly, assess situations and make sound decisions, and to work with integrity consistent with Morris Group values.
• Physical requirements: mobility across the premises, prolonged sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance, and ability to work in industrial environments with noise, lubricants and coolants while wearing PPE.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Fanuc-based controls; 5-axis experience is a plus.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software is preferred but not required.
