Senior Surety Manager

About the role

MDD, a Davies Company, is looking for an experienced Senior Surety Manager to lead complex forensic accounting engagements within its Construction & Surety practice. The role acts as a trusted advisor to surety carriers, legal counsel, claims professionals, and contractors, delivering financial analysis, investigative accounting, and damage quantification for bonded construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead forensic accounting and surety engagements covering contractor defaults, bonded projects, delay claims, and fund‑flow analysis.
• Perform financial statement reviews, job‑cost report analysis, work‑in‑progress assessments, and cash‑flow examinations.
• Support surety carriers and legal teams throughout claim and litigation phases, preparing clear written reports and client presentations.
• Manage multiple concurrent engagements while ensuring quality, timeliness, and profitability.
• Mentor Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers, fostering professional development.
• Participate in client meetings, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation support activities.
• Contribute to business development by building client relationships, supporting proposals, and identifying cross‑selling opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in surety, construction accounting, forensic accounting, claims consulting, or litigation support.
• Strong understanding of construction operations, project accounting, cost tracking, and the surety claims lifecycle.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client‑facing orientation.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites and client meetings.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
