Senior Supplier Engineer

About the role

The Senior Supplier Engineer will join a development team in Santa Clara, CA, working on the design, development, and validation of manufacturing solutions for direct‑material components and assemblies within Johnson & Johnson’s Robotics and Digital Solutions franchise.

Key responsibilities

• Own development, characterization, and validation of components and sub‑assembly processes at multiple suppliers for new product development and sustaining production.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Manufacturing Engineering, R&D, Sourcing, Quality, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance) to provide technical solutions optimized for manufacturing, performance, and cost.
• Apply engineering principles, world‑class manufacturing techniques, statistics, and risk management to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Drive supplier performance improvements using Six Sigma, Lean, SPC, and negotiation, supporting multiple suppliers simultaneously.

Required profile

• BS in Engineering (or equivalent) with at least 5 years of experience in a regulated industry, preferably medical devices.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing process characterization, development, validation, and GD&T.
• Experience with supplier management, qualification, and process improvement.
• Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, and quality tools such as SPC, capability analysis, and FMEA.
