Senior Staff Attorney – City Legal Department

About the role

The City of Rogers is seeking a senior legal professional to serve as the primary attorney for municipal matters. Reporting directly to the Mayor, the Senior Staff Attorney will represent the city in state and federal courts and provide counsel to the Mayor and City Council.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the City of Rogers in all civil and criminal litigation before state and federal courts.
• Advise the Mayor and City Council on legal issues affecting municipal operations.
• Review, draft, and edit legal documents, pleadings, and contracts as required.
• Provide strategic guidance and leadership to Public Safety Chiefs, department directors, and senior city officials.
• Supervise the civil and criminal attorneys within the City’s Legal Department.
• Offer principled recommendations on complex legal matters and mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• Extensive experience handling municipal legal matters and litigation.
• Proven ability to advise elected officials and senior city leaders.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience within a legal department.
• Experience mentoring and influencing other leaders.
