Senior Software Engineer – Test Equipment Development

About the role

Moog is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and develop test equipment for hydraulic and electro‑mechanical systems used in military, commercial and space vehicles. The role is based onsite in Buffalo, NY and involves working closely with program teams to deliver innovative testing solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop new test equipment, assemblies and processes to meet cost, schedule and performance goals.
• Lead the design process, provide technical leadership and coordinate work across teams.
• Plan and conduct independent evaluations, select and adapt engineering techniques, and devise new approaches to testing challenges.
• Collaborate with development and production teams to analyze, debug and resolve issues.
• Mentor junior engineers as needed.

Required profile

• Experience with LabVIEW, LabVIEW Real‑Time and LabVIEW FPGA development tools.
• Proficiency in bug tracking and version control systems such as Jira, Trac or SVN.
• Strong programming skills in Python or another automation scripting language.
• Familiarity with National Instruments hardware, real‑time controllers and FPGA cards.
• Hands‑on experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, logic analyzers, digital meters, power supplies).
