Senior Software Engineer - SPLUNK

About the role

A contract supports more than 12 efforts covering front-end equipment configuration and maintenance, back-end repositories, dashboards and the full data-processing thread. Teams range from one to two developers to teams of 12 and work closely with customers to define requirements and solutions. This position is for a software developer experienced in integrating and reporting data with SPLUNK, working across projects and applications to incorporate data types and sources into an enterprise SPLUNK solution. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with start and end times agreed with the candidate and team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance complex software systems such as analytics, real-time systems and business management information systems, based on documented requirements
• Review and test software components, document test results and resolve software problem reports
• Analyze user requirements, design and code new software, debug and integrate software into new or modified systems
• Develop simple data queries for databases or data repositories and implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries
• Develop or implement algorithms, write or review software and system documentation, and assist with test procedures
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning
• Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure work meets project constraints

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline; 19 years of experience required, or four additional years if the degree is not in a technical field
• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
• Preferred: experience with Docker, Maven, GitLab and CI/CD processes

Required skills

• Three plus years of SPLUNK experience
• Three plus years of C++ and 14+ years of Java, including at least two years of Java 1.7+ and presentation tiers
• Spring, JavaScript, JSP, servlets, JEE and RESTful application development
• Apache Tomcat deployment; preferred: jQuery, Angular, ExtJS, MongoDB and Apache Camel
