Senior Software Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Full‑Stack Software Engineer to join the Enterprise Learning & Skills (ELS) engineering team. You will help build, scale, and evolve a global, API‑driven platform that issues and verifies digital credentials. The role combines hands‑on development with architectural leadership and mentorship.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Ruby on Rails services and APIs, as well as modern JavaScript/React front‑ends.
• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of complex features, ensuring quality, performance, and reliability.
• Write clean, well‑tested code, reduce technical debt, and simplify service architecture.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with external vendors, Product, and Customer Success to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Use AI‑assisted development tools for coding, testing, and debugging while exercising sound engineering judgment.
• Promote best practices for secure, scalable, cloud‑native web application development.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven ability to make high‑impact technical decisions in complex production environments.
• Strong cross‑functional communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience in software architecture, system design, and scalability.
• Track record of mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
• Comfort working across multiple codebases and quickly ramping up on unfamiliar systems.
