Senior Software Engineer - Cloud Platform Developer Relations (Remote)

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Tiny Homes Platform, working remotely. The team acts as the main technical interface between the platform and its customers, using deep knowledge of the GKE platform, Vantage networking and mesh/control-plane internals to diagnose and resolve deployment blockers for containerized workloads. It turns recurring friction points into reusable technologies, tools, documentation, video content and self-service processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain fluency across the Tiny Homes stack (GKE, Docker, Envoy/Wayfinder mesh, Vantage, Tailscale, Flux CD, CI/CD) and engage directly with customers to triage and resolve deployment blockers.
• Turn patterns from customer engagements into documentation, tooling or process improvements instead of one-off fixes.
• Keep platform knowledge current as the platform evolves, correcting stale assumptions in customer-facing guidance.
• Develop, test and deploy software, write functional and destructive test suites, and deliver under pressure.
• Work in agile teams, collaborate with the Product Team so user stories are valuable, developer-ready and testable, and communicate clearly with different audiences.
• Help grow junior engineers by guiding them on modern frameworks and leading technical discussions.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Preferred: 3-5 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• No travel required; mostly sitting work in a comfortable indoor setting.

• Docker, GKE and Kubernetes fundamentals
• Cloud networking (Vantage, IP tables, identity providers)

• CI/CD pipelines (Spinnaker, GitOps, GitHub, Flux CD)
• Cloud admission controllers and tenant workload configuration

Pay range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents: $90,000 - $170,000.
