Senior Software Engineer – Backend

About the role

Our customer base is expanding rapidly, and existing clients need to scale while new ones are onboarding quickly. To keep pace, we are looking for senior‑level engineers who can move fast, maintain high quality, and own complex backend systems that deliver real value.

Key responsibilities

• Backend engineering work focused on scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Own large, complex projects from planning to deployment.
• Collaborate directly with product and customer teams to align engineering with business needs.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to the engineering team.
• Help shape the future of Canals as we continue scaling with our customers.
• Ensure reliability and high performance of backend services.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience as a backend engineer building scalable, high‑performance systems.
• Experience working independently in a fast‑paced, product‑focused environment.
• Comfort taking ownership of deliverables and ensuring projects meet high standards.
• Ability to guide and unblock other engineers through thoughtful code reviews and architectural feedback.
• Previous experience in high‑growth startups or small teams is a plus.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed setting.
