Senior Software Engineer - Backend AI/ML

About the role

Lyra Health, a provider of evidence-based mental health care, is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to build the backend services for its AI/ML product features. The ideal candidate takes ownership of their work and leads cross-functional projects with therapists, data scientists, engineers and product managers.

Key responsibilities

• Build backend services that support the core ML/AI product features
• Create the backend infrastructure needed for scalable, resilient and highly performant solutions
• Deploy and manage applications in production

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience delivering production-ready products
• Ability to write high-quality code in Java (Kotlin a plus) and Python
• Experience implementing production-level RESTful APIs
• Experience with relational and low-latency databases
• Experience with Docker and deploying applications to Kubernetes
• Nice to have: experience with modern async Python web frameworks (e.g. FastAPI) and data streaming (WebSockets, Server-Sent Events)
• Nice to have: understanding of basic machine learning principles and supporting inference of ML models in production
• Nice to have: experience with Protobuf messages, cloud infrastructure (particularly AWS), and highly sensitive healthcare data
