Senior Software Engineer – AI & Java

About the role

Mastercard’s B&MI Technology Development team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to drive AI‑enabled innovations. You will own critical Java services and AI components, delivering scalable, secure, and resilient solutions that enhance the customer experience across a global payments platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Java APIs that power AI‑driven features.
• Develop and productionize AI components in Python, handling model training, tuning, and inference.
• Implement end‑to‑end AI system operations, including deployment frameworks, automated pipelines, and model lifecycle management (versioning, monitoring, updates).
• Collaborate with product partners and cross‑functional engineering teams to enhance existing platforms and create new, high‑impact products.
• Ensure performance, scalability, security, and maintainability of services in a distributed environment.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with hands‑on experience delivering production‑grade AI‑enabled services.
• Strong background in both deterministic software engineering and probabilistic AI systems.
• Proven ability to own critical components end‑to‑end and work independently as an individual contributor.

Required skills

• Java development and API design.
• Python programming for AI/ML workflows.
• Experience with AI/ML model training, inference, and lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, scalability, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with automated deployment pipelines, versioning, and monitoring tools.
