Senior Scientist, Data Science – Oncology Bioinformatics

About the role

Servier is seeking a senior bioinformatics scientist to join its Data Science team in Boston. The role focuses on next‑generation sequencing (NGS) analysis for multiple oncology programs, translating data into biological insights and testable hypotheses.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and interpret genomic studies in exploratory and clinical oncology projects.
• Develop and maintain NGS analysis workflows using WDL, CWL, or Nextflow.
• Implement new methods, assess performance, and visualize results for internal and external audiences.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to propose experiments, identify novel cancer targets, patient‑selection hypotheses, and combination treatment strategies.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Biology, Statistics or related field with ≥5 years of experience in drug discovery or translational oncology.
• Track record of publications that turn bioinformatics analyses into new biological insights.

Required skills

• Strong programming in R/Bioconductor and Python.
• SQL, Unix/Linux, and cluster computing expertise.
• Workflow development with WDL, CWL, or Nextflow.
• Data visualization using ggplot2, RStudio Connect or Shiny.
• Processing of RNA‑seq, DNA‑seq, DNA‑methylation data and familiarity with TCGA and CRISPR/shRNA screening datasets.
