Senior Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)

About the role

Competitive Range Solutions seeks an experienced Senior Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) to lead the design and implementation of advanced communication distribution systems for Department of Defense (DoD) projects. The role supports the Executive Change Process (ECP) and works closely with government customers and multi‑contractor teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance and oversight in designing complex communication distribution systems that meet current standards and incorporate innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with project execution teams to develop and implement ECPs, reviewing and approving technical solution proposals.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison between project teams, customers, and government representatives, communicating requirements and negotiating details.
• Ensure all designs and installations comply with relevant codes, standards, and government security requirements, conducting quality‑assurance reviews.
• Assist in planning, execution, and closeout phases of ECPs, contributing to schedules, cost estimates, and resource allocations.

Required profile

• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• 10+ years of experience as a RCDD, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role supporting DoD environments.
• Strong mathematics and IT abilities, with experience performing site visits and evaluating telecommunications and building‑technology systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a valid Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification.

Required skills

• RCDD certification.
• Design of inside‑plant cable infrastructure, including conduit, cable trays, copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
• Development of Engineering Installation Packages (EIPs) for cable racks, wiring, and testing.
• Knowledge of current telecommunications codes, standards, and DoD security requirements.
