Senior Real Estate Development Accountant

About the role

The Senior Real Estate Development Accountant will lead budgeting and financial management for affordable housing projects throughout all phases—from pre‑development to conversion. Reporting to the Controller of Housing, the role partners with development, design, construction, asset management, and finance teams to ensure accurate reporting, timely loan draws, and strong internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Manage construction loan draw processes, prepare and submit draw packages, and reconcile related ledgers.
• Develop, maintain, and update detailed development and construction budgets in Yardi.
• Prepare budget‑to‑actual analyses, variance reports, cash‑flow projections, and cost certifications for leadership and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate with tax advisors, external accountants, lenders, and housing agencies on budgets, eligible basis calculations, bond tests, and 8609 filings.
• Review proposals, contracts, and cost allocations for fiscal responsibility and regulatory compliance.
• Support monthly close and annual audit processes for the development pipeline.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in affordable housing finance and Low‑Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) transactions.
• Strong background in construction accounting and loan administration.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with development, construction, and finance teams.
• Detail‑oriented with excellent analytical and documentation skills.
