Senior Quality Inspector

About the role

Excelitas Technologies is seeking a Senior Quality Inspector to perform detailed inspections of incoming products at its Billerica, MA facility. The role ensures compliance with customer and internal quality standards for advanced photonics and micro‑optics components.

Key responsibilities

• Perform detailed inspections of incoming production and engineering items using handheld measuring and test equipment.
• Read and interpret CAD drawings, ISO procedures, and industry specifications with minimal guidance.
• Own and drive the Material Review Board (MRB) process, coordinating dispositions such as vendor returns, rework, and scrap.
• Support Quality Engineers with containment activities, first‑article inspections, and provide technical input on root‑cause and corrective actions.
• Complete inspection forms and reports accurately within the ERP system and identify opportunities to improve inspection processes.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience as a quality inspector in manufacturing or electronics.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment with strong organizational skills.
• Experience collaborating within cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with handheld measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, microscopes, height gauges).
• Experience operating CMM equipment (preferred).
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Ability to read CAD drawings and understand ISO and IPC‑A‑610 specifications.
• Familiarity with ERP systems for inspection reporting.
