Senior Project Manager – Industrial Water & Wastewater

About the role

Sulzer is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of advanced turnkey water and wastewater projects valued between $1M and $5M. Based in Cumming, GA, you will act as the technical execution hub, coordinating mechanical, electrical, and project engineering teams to deliver complete industrial process systems on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Synchronize workflows across mechanical design, electrical, and project engineering to produce complex systems efficiently.
• Travel 30%–40% nationwide to supervise on‑site installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Review and resolve discrepancies in technical specifications, customer layout drawings, orders, and P&IDs.
• Prepare engineering submittals and address consulting engineer comments.
• Size, select, and generate purchase requisitions for pumps, piping, tanks, and dosing equipment.
• Maintain cost control, prepare change orders, review vendor quotes, and negotiate with suppliers.
• Inspect fabricated equipment at subcontractor facilities and document quality control.
• Communicate project status to clients and support sales with technical engineering answers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Process, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (or 15 years equivalent hands‑on experience).
• 6–10+ years of progressive project engineering and management experience in industrial water or wastewater.
• Proficiency reading P&IDs, checking layout drawings, and using AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
• Legal authorization to work in the US and willingness to travel 30%–40%.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, make rapid decisions, and control costs.
• Preferred: PMP certification, Professional Engineer license, experience with wastewater OEM technologies, DAF systems, mixers, biological systems, and OSHA 30/40 safety training.
