Senior Piping Engineer

About the role

Amentum Nuclear Projects, a Tier 1 service provider to the U.S. Department of Energy, delivers solutions at complex nuclear cleanup and production sites, covering program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, nuclear operations, consulting and engineering and construction. It is looking for a Senior Piping Engineer to deliver projects from concept through detailed design completion, working in Oak Ridge, TN with occasional travel.

Required profile

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school; Master's degree is a plus.
• Engineering registration (PE) required; DOE Q clearance preferred but not required.
• U.S. citizenship required; valid driver's license required.
• Preferred: commutable distance from the Oak Ridge office.
• Ability to work in the Oak Ridge office and in a team atmosphere; must pass a pre-employment drug and background check.

Required skills

• Knowledge of process piping, gas piping and related systems, and experience delivering projects from concept to detailed design.
• Experience leading groups of engineers and designers within budget and schedule.
• Design experience with ASME B31.1, B31.3 and ASME BPVC; knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid flow and process systems.
• Competence in discipline-specific software such as AutoPipe, Caesar II, AutoCAD and MicroStation, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1; pipe stress analysis experience highly desired.
