Senior Pharmacy Technician

About the role

Atrius Health, part of the Optum family of businesses, is hiring a Senior Pharmacy Technician in Boston, Massachusetts. The role covers a wide range of routine and complex pharmaceutical duties in support of pharmacy operations, with a lead role among support staff. It relieves the pharmacist of duties related to new prescription intake and handling of Schedule II controlled substances in line with MA Board of Pharmacy regulations. The position is full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:00am to 8:00pm, with a rotating Saturday and Sunday shift.

Key responsibilities

• Support pharmacists by processing prescriptions, entering data and preparing medications, including compounding and labeling
• Provide customer service during medication pick-up, payment processing and counseling offers
• Manage inventory, receive and inspect shipments, price and store medications, and restock clinical areas
• Administer vaccines, report safety events and contribute to quality improvement and departmental initiatives
• Collaborate with the pharmacy team, uphold regulatory compliance and maintain required certifications; travel to other sites may be required

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED (or higher)
• Active and unrestricted Massachusetts pharmacy technician license
• Nationally certified pharmacy technician through PTCB, CPhT or NHA
• Certified in immunization administration by an ACPE-accredited program, or able to obtain certification within 90 days of employment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate, or able to obtain it within 90 days
• Reliable transportation
• Preferred: 2+ years of retail or outpatient pharmacy experience and 1+ year as a pharmacy technician
