Senior Payroll Tax Analyst (Multi-State)

About the role

The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst will lead the setup, coordination and reconciliation of multi‑state payroll taxes for Republic Services. Working remotely, you will partner with corporate and field teams to ensure tax obligations are accurately identified, reported and paid.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file all required payroll tax returns and reports for federal, state and municipal jurisdictions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date payroll tax data, including tax rates, IDs and due‑date calendars.
• Process timely tax payments via check, electronic transfer or wire, and retain full documentation.
• Monitor jurisdictional inquiries, respond to tax applications and track resolutions.
• Conduct independent audits of payroll tax data, correct errors with the Front End processing team and improve audit processes.
• Oversee fringe‑benefit tax processing and ensure compliance with Smart Compliance requirements.
• Identify opportunities to streamline payroll tax procedures and add value to the organization.
• Support miscellaneous projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of payroll and/or payroll tax compliance experience.
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws and experience managing tax accounts in multiple states.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
• Effective communication skills with stakeholders at all levels.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ADP Smart Compliance.
• Workday payroll system knowledge.
