Senior Patient Access Representative

About the role

The University of Miami’s UHealth Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a Senior Patient Access Representative to join its team in Miami, FL. In this full‑time position you will oversee pre‑registration and clearance activities, ensuring accurate data collection for reimbursement and smooth patient flow.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain, verify, and enter demographic, financial and clinical information for patient accounts.
• Contact patients, families or physicians’ offices to gather missing insurance details and confirm eligibility.
• Collaborate with scheduling departments to manage add‑on patients and coordinate interventional procedures.
• Process procedure coding, medication prior authorizations, and required referrals.
• Notify patients of financial liabilities before service dates.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in the system of record.
• Complete Worker’s Compensation DWC‑25 forms and handle appeals for medication and interventional procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance and productivity.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of relevant experience in patient access, registration or medical billing.
• Knowledge of accounting procedures and principles related to healthcare reimbursement.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
