Senior Operations Engineer - API

About the role

Join a purpose‑built, agile small‑molecule manufacturing site in Elkton, VA, supporting the commissioning, qualification, start‑up and operational readiness of a new API facility. The role partners with cross‑functional teams to ensure safe, compliant and efficient operations as the plant transitions to routine production.

Key responsibilities

• Support commissioning, qualification, start‑up and operational readiness activities for the new API facility.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Technical Operations and Supply Chain to ensure safe and compliant plant start‑up.
• Provide technical support during equipment and process start‑up, troubleshooting and optimization.
• Help define, implement and improve operating practices, standard work, procedures and routines.
• Coordinate improvement activities using MPS tools, Kaizen, 5S and visual management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in API small‑molecule manufacturing, including operations or technical operations.
• Working knowledge of GMP, quality and compliance expectations in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and collaboration skills across Operations, Engineering and Quality.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
