Senior ML System Engineer

About the role

Atlassian is hiring a Senior ML System Engineer for its Rovo GenAI Platform team. You will build and maintain the core infrastructure that lets machine learning engineers and data scientists develop, train, evaluate, deploy and operate machine learning models and pipelines, and power the GenAI products in Atlassian. The role is full-time and open to remote locations in the Americas, including San Francisco, Austin, Mountain View and New York.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain the core infrastructure for ML model and pipeline development, training, evaluation, deployment and operation.
• Solve difficult problems involving complex infrastructure and architecture.
• Lead other engineers through projects from technical design to launch.
• Collaborate with other teams and internal customers to set expectations, gather input and communicate results.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a software developer.
• Fluency in at least one modern object-oriented programming language (Java/Kotlin and Python preferred).
• Experience with continuous delivery and continuous integration.
• Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems on Amazon Web Services.
• Experience with large-scale distributed data processing (Apache Spark preferred).
• Basic understanding of the machine learning project lifecycle.

Required skills

• Amazon Web Services (S3, Kinesis, CloudFormation, EKS, security and networking)
• Continuous delivery and continuous integration
• Preferred: expert-level knowledge of search platforms and deep learning training/inference platforms
• Preferred: Databricks, scaling and deploying machine learning models

What we offer

• Base pay for new hires in the United States: Zone A $206,100-$269,075, Zone B $185,490-$242,168, Zone C $171,063-$223,332.
