Senior Metrology Engineer

About the role

Excelitas Technologies is seeking a Senior Metrology Engineer to lead the transfer, qualification, and continuous improvement of optical metrology tools and processes from development to production.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as technical subject matter expert for optical metrology, including surface metrology, spectrophotometry, and laser measurement.
• Support transfer of metrology tools and processes to production, including IQ/OQ/PQ qualifications and gauge studies.
• Develop and improve documentation for measurement and quality control of optical components.
• Train technicians on metrology tools and processes.
• Conduct tool and process verification studies using Gauge R&R and related techniques.
• Troubleshoot existing optical metrology equipment and processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Optics, or related field; advanced degree desirable.
• Approximately 10 years of experience with optical metrology.
• Proficiency in metrology automation programming (e.g., LabView, Python).
• Experience with structured problem‑solving tools such as 8D or DMAIC.
