Senior Mechanical Engineer – Up to $100/hr (Part‑time, Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a senior mechanical engineer to create realistic, deterministic engineering tasks for AI research labs. The position is part‑time, fully remote, and compensated at $75‑$100 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Design long‑horizon engineering scenarios that reflect real‑world mechanical work, including design review, analysis, and change management.
• Develop deterministic rubrics to grade AI agents against verifiable ground truth.
• Evaluate CAD models and GD&T compliance against defect lists and specified dimensions.
• Perform tolerance stack‑ups, DFM/DFA reviews, and generate checklists for manufacturing processes.
• Work independently and asynchronously to deliver high‑quality engineering tasks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in design, manufacturing engineering, or product development.
• Strong written communication skills to encode reasoning into deterministic rubrics.

Required skills

• Proficiency with a CAD system (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Fusion 360).
• Expertise in GD&T and use of a PLM system (Arena, Teamcenter, Windchill).
• Hands‑on experience with at least one manufacturing process (machining, injection molding, sheet‑metal, additive manufacturing).
• Ability to conduct tolerance stack‑ups and DFM/DFA analyses.
