Senior Mechanical Engineer – New Product Introduction

About the role

BETA Technologies is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering team. You will lead the development of new manufacturing processes from concept through low‑rate production, driving innovation for electric aircraft.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for new development projects through technology readiness level 7.
• Develop and fabricate proof‑of‑concept prototypes, test equipment, and fixtures for rapid iteration.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, supply chain, and certification teams to define make‑vs‑buy strategies and ensure certifiability of new technologies.
• Design or select manufacturing process equipment and support production teams after technology transfer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or high‑rate production.
• Strong background in new product introduction, scaling production, and cost reduction.
• Data‑driven decision maker with experience using analytics for process improvement.

Required skills

• Filament winding, automated fiber placement, resin transfer molding, compression molding, injection molding, resin casting.
• Metal additive manufacturing, forging, metal casting, stamping, welding.
• Conventional spray coating, thermal spray coating, electroplating.
• GD&T, tolerance stack‑ups, metrology tools for precision manufacturing.
