Senior Mechanical Engineer – FAL & MGSE Lead

About the role

Airbus U.S. Space & Defense is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the development and implementation of mechanical design strategies for the Final Assembly Line (FAL) and to own the Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) portfolio. The role ensures that mechanical flight hardware integrates seamlessly with design specifications and production capacity while driving continuous improvement across the assembly line.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical design strategy for the FAL, aligning hardware integration with production requirements.
• Serve as the technical owner of all MGSE, monitoring performance, maintenance, and ROI.
• Lead investigations and Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) for mechanical non‑conformances and anomalies.
• Propose data‑driven MGSE solutions and process improvements to boost production efficiency.
• Provide technical guidance on workstation, GSE, and process optimization.
• Act as the primary liaison between mechanical design engineering and production teams.
• Mentor peers and support team growth initiatives.

Required profile

• Senior‑level mechanical engineer with extensive experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing.
• Proven track record in leading mechanical design projects for large‑scale assembly lines.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to conduct mechanical analyses under varying operational conditions.
• Experience driving continuous‑improvement initiatives and managing maintenance programs.
