Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Production Tooling

About the role

Join BETA Technologies to design, build, and validate innovative tooling and equipment for the manufacture of electric VTOL and CTOL aircraft. You will leverage CAD, structural, thermal, and CFD analysis to ensure designs meet safety and regulatory standards while contributing to a sustainable aviation future.

Key responsibilities

• Design tools, jigs, fixtures, and machines to support manufacturing processes.
• Develop solutions to improve efficiency, quality, ergonomics, and safety.
• Evaluate and optimize existing manufacturing processes with new tooling.
• Collaborate with product design to enhance manufacturability of parts and assemblies.
• Lead ideation, creation, and development of new processes.
• Support commissioning, validation, prototyping, and testing of tooling concepts.
• Fabricate and modify parts, including machining and welding.
• Create maintenance, troubleshooting, qualification, and calibration documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of mechanical design experience.
• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Self‑starter with strong organization, communication, and leadership skills.

Required skills

• Advanced 3D CAD (SolidWorks or CATIA) with structural, thermal, and fluid FEA.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (ASME Y‑14.5 preferred).
• Design of manufacturing tooling and industrial automation solutions.
• Knowledge of material properties, composites, thermal design, structural analysis, shock and vibration.
• Mentoring junior engineers.
