Senior Manager, Research Support – Sylvester Brain Tumor Institute

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC is seeking a Senior Manager, Research Support to lead research program teams at the Sylvester Brain Tumor Institute. This full‑time, onsite position oversees daily operations, staff development, and strategic initiatives to ensure successful system implementation and upgrades.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate meetings with research staff and ensure timely, accurate execution of functions.
• Provide technical support, troubleshoot operational issues, and oversee department budget with cost‑reduction focus.
• Assist in manuscript preparation and publication.
• Recruit, train, and evaluate research personnel; prepare performance and disciplinary reports.
• Analyze data briefs, produce indicators for a data‑visualization platform, and generate auxiliary publications.
• Establish and monitor internal controls, ensuring compliance with university policies.
• Serve as primary administrative and strategic coordinator for the institute, managing agendas, notes, follow‑up actions, and event logistics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in research support or related management.
• Strong knowledge of business and management principles.
• Proven ability to direct, manage, evaluate operations, set goals, delegate, and supervise staff.
• Leadership skills to motivate, develop, and train team members.
