Senior Manager, Research Laboratory

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks a full‑time Senior Manager to lead the Molecular Therapeutics Shared Resource laboratory. This position oversees all core laboratory operations, ensures compliance, and supports cutting‑edge cancer research.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain efficient departmental operations, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and implement short‑ and long‑term goals for laboratory services.
• Design, monitor, and evaluate systems for current and projected lab needs.
• Act as liaison between investigators, research staff, and support personnel to resolve operational issues.
• Advise on technical procedures, equipment use, and maintain standards.
• Assess and recommend new techniques and technologies.
• Manage project activities, controlling costs, methods, and resources.
• Install and maintain laboratory equipment in line with federal regulations.
• Train laboratory technicians on SOPs and equipment requirements.
• Establish internal controls and ensure adherence to university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in laboratory management.
• Strong knowledge of business and management principles.
• Proven ability to direct, implement, and evaluate department operations.
• Experience setting departmental goals aligned with strategic plans.
• Effective planning, delegation, and supervision skills.
• Leadership ability to motivate, develop, and train staff.
