Senior Manager, Research Administration (Pre-Award)

About the role

The Office of Research Administration at the University of Miami seeks a Senior Manager to lead pre‑award research administration. This role focuses on corporate/industry‑funded clinical research and clinical trial proposals, ensuring compliance and efficient processing.

Key responsibilities

• Review, analyze, negotiate, and endorse completed sponsored proposals and awards, especially corporate/industry‑funded clinical research.
• Support the Executive Director and Associate Directors in developing and delivering staff training on complex pre‑award requirements.
• Ensure correct use of processes, forms, and submission requirements for all proposals.
• Communicate with extramural agencies on proposal and grant matters.
• Provide guidance to staff on sponsor policies, government regulations, and award terms.
• Collaborate with investigators, compliance, IRB, risk management, sponsors, and other university offices to manage projects efficiently.
• Monitor team performance using real‑time dashboards and meet Service Level Agreement KPIs.
• Identify process inefficiencies through data analysis and implement improvements.
• Prepare regular status reports and metrics for senior management.
• Stay current on professional developments and ensure compliance with university policies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in pre‑award research administration, particularly with corporate/industry‑funded clinical research.
• Strong knowledge of sponsor policies, federal regulations, and award terms.
• Proven ability to train and mentor staff on complex administrative processes.
• Excellent collaboration skills with investigators, compliance, IRB, and external sponsors.
• Data‑driven mindset with experience using dashboards and performance metrics.
