Senior Integration & Test Engineer

About the role

Cowboy Space Corp is building the infrastructure for the orbital economy, including laser‑based power and high‑bandwidth optical communications. We are seeking a Senior Integration & Test Engineer to own end‑to‑end validation of complex electro‑mechanical and avionics hardware, taking systems from prototype through flight readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Lead system‑level integration and testing of hardware and avionics assemblies.
• Design, build, and maintain test infrastructure such as racks, fixtures, harnesses, and tooling.
• Develop and execute automated and manual test procedures for board‑ and system‑level validation.
• Conduct electrical bring‑up, debug, root‑cause analysis, and failure investigations.
• Perform environmental and functional testing (thermal, vibration, DVE, etc.).
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to verify performance.
• Improve test coverage, reliability, and scalability.
• Support flight qualification, launch readiness, and real‑time anomaly resolution during launch campaigns.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with integration, test, or validation of hardware systems.
• Strong background in avionics board‑level testing and debugging (power, signal integrity, communications).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and interface control documents.
• Comfortable working in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments with high ownership.

Required skills

• Python (or similar) scripting for test automation.
• Test automation, instrumentation, and lab equipment operation.
• Design and construction of test fixtures, harnesses, racks, and data‑acquisition systems.
• Avionics board‑level testing, power testing, signal‑integrity testing, and communications testing.
• Experience with RF, sensors, LiDAR, or related avionics systems (a plus).
