Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

About the role

FanDuel is looking for a full stack Senior Software Engineer in New York City to lead the design, development and delivery of high-scale applications. The role owns the frontend architecture of web and mobile products end to end, sets technical direction, raises the quality bar and mentors other engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of semi-annual and annual technical objectives and deliver mission-critical systems on schedule
• Define the long-term architectural vision for full stack and microservices platforms and architect resilient, secure, maintainable applications
• Lead cross-team technical initiatives, mentor engineers and influence engineering standards
• Develop high-performance front-end interfaces and back-end microservices using modern frameworks and design patterns
• Design, build and optimize high-throughput GraphQL APIs
• Run rigorous code reviews, establish testing strategies and enforce quality across the SDLC

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, with 5+ years building and shipping production software
• Proven technical leadership: mentoring engineers and setting technical direction
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Required skills

• TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+) and React, including component design, state management and hooks
• React Native, with native mobile (Swift/iOS, Kotlin/Android) comfort or eagerness to learn
• HTML5, CSS3, responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
• Frontend performance optimization (code splitting, lazy loading, Core Web Vitals)
• Test-first approach with Jest and React Testing Library
• Working knowledge of Java and Spring Boot, and experience with GraphQL APIs
• Hands-on use of AI development tools

Preferred: design systems, WCAG accessibility, Kafka, CI/CD (Gradle, Buildkite), cloud (AWS), Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and Terraform.

What we offer

• Salary range of $138,000 - $173,000 USD depending on experience, location and market
