Senior Faculty Specialist

About the role

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the A. James Clark School of Engineering seeks a Senior Faculty Specialist to serve as a Senior Systems Administrator for the Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS). The position supports enterprise IT operations for a research community of over 400 users across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and improve core IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and virtualization environments.
• Ensure system reliability, security, and compliance in a mission‑critical research setting.
• Provide hands‑on technical support to researchers, faculty, and staff.
• Document procedures, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to team projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least six years of professional systems administration experience in a team‑based environment.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and collaborate within a small IT team.

Required skills

• Active Directory and Group Policy management.
• DNS and DHCP configuration.
• Administration of Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Enterprise virtualization platforms and hypervisor management.
