Senior Faculty – Associate Professor/Professor (Engineering)

About the role

Virginia Commonwealth University’s College of Engineering is seeking a tenured senior faculty member at the associate professor or professor level. The appointment will strengthen the college’s research portfolio in strategic thrusts such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, computing, human health, and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead high‑impact, interdisciplinary research projects and secure external funding.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the appointed engineering department.
• Supervise graduate students and post‑doctoral researchers.
• Collaborate with industry, government, and academic partners to translate research into practice.
• Contribute to departmental service, curriculum development, and academic governance.

Required profile

• Outstanding record of scholarly research and publications in one or more of the college’s thrust areas.
• Demonstrated ability to attract significant research funding.
• Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration across engineering disciplines.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentorship.
