Senior Engineering Project Manager

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Senior Engineering Project Manager to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC). The role covers managing large government projects, from defining scope, schedule and budget to overseeing status reporting and mentoring other project managers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and define project scope of work, detailed schedules, budgets, objectives and deliverables, and document the engineering baseline
• Decompose complex work into manageable components, identify resource needs and organize the project team
• Review project status, escalate issues and notify management early of technical challenges, schedule delays and budget overruns
• Identify risks and opportunities and recommend and implement approved risk mitigation solutions
• Manage and assess change orders affecting scope, cost and schedule
• Assist or lead detailed reviews of Requests for Proposals (RFP), including technical elements, schedule and price estimates
• Oversee weekly, monthly and quarterly status reporting and interface with the customer on technical presentations and reviews
• Mentor other project managers, create and lead new POG processes and tools, and challenge non-value-adding processes

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another STEM field
• 8+ years of project management experience; engineering project management preferred
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
• Valid U.S. driver's license

• Project management methodology such as Catalyst, including budget development, planning, control and assurance
• Project management software and finance and accounting concepts
• Client vision, business objectives and delivery assurance principles
• Architecture, development, integration and deployment of project phases
