Senior Engineering Manager, Index Build

About the role

LSEG is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager for its Benchmark & Index Management business in Charlotte. The role leads globally distributed engineering teams that build and operate business-critical technology platforms supporting index management and operational workflows. It combines engineering leadership, technical and architectural oversight, delivery accountability and people development, working closely with Product, Operations, Index Delivery & Management, Architecture and Technology partners.

Key responsibilities

• Build and scale globally distributed teams and own end-to-end engineering delivery of scalable, resilient and secure solutions
• Provide technical and architectural direction for new capabilities, platform modernization and complex engineering decisions
• Drive modernization of legacy platforms toward cloud-native architecture and establish engineering practices (design, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, security)
• Guide teams in APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, data processing and enterprise integrations
• Partner with Product, Operations, Architecture, UX and others to turn business priorities into technology solutions
• Mentor engineers, technical leads and engineering managers and build a high-performing engineering culture

Required profile

• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including large-scale, business-critical applications in an enterprise environment
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex technology products
• Experience in agile delivery and across Product, Architecture, QA, Delivery Management and Technology Governance
• Experience in Financial Markets, ideally Equities, Fixed Income, Index Management or related financial services technology

Required skills

• Database modelling and tuning with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL or similar
• Object-oriented languages such as C#.NET, Java, Python, including APIs, microservices and distributed systems
• Web frameworks such as Angular, React, with JavaScript, HTML and CSS
• AWS services (RDS, EC2, EKS/ECS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, AWS Glue)
• CI/CD, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, observability and software security
• Advantageous: Java (Spring Boot), Python, Sybase, PostgreSQL, workflow tools such as IBM BAW or Camunda
