Senior Engineer, Autonomy Software Integration

About the role

Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing AI and robotics products, including Hivemind autonomy software. The Hivemind Quality team integrates, validates and improves the Hivemind ecosystem so developers can build, test and deploy autonomous systems. This role seeks an experienced Software Integration Engineer who becomes a power user of the Hivemind SDK, develops and validates customer use cases and gives feedback to Engineering and Product teams.

Key responsibilities

• Become a systems integration expert: learn to configure, deploy and integrate multi-agent systems across simulation, hardware-in-the-loop and flight platforms, and understand the system end-to-end from sensors to autonomous behaviors.
• Integrate new autonomy capabilities with development teams, ensuring interoperability between algorithms, perception pipelines, middleware and platform interfaces.
• Lead the integration of autonomy software onto new robotic hardware, configuring sensor drivers, communication interfaces and platform adapters.
• Build integration tooling and infrastructure: frameworks, deployment scripts and configuration management tools for SIL, HIL and flight environments.
• Support cross-platform compatibility and analyze system logs, telemetry and rosbag data to diagnose defects, creating analysis tooling to speed debugging.
• Work with DevOps to streamline integration pipelines, shorten build-to-deploy cycles and define release-readiness checkpoints.
• Validate system requirements and interface contracts, and help build tooling to verify end-to-end compliance and traceability.

Required profile

• Typically 3-5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in CS, Comp Eng, Robotics or a related field, or 2 years with a master's degree.
• Demonstrated experience designing integration workflows, communicating system dependencies and reporting integration defects across subsystems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills, able to collaborate across teams and present to customers or technical leadership.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python or C++.
• Experience with autonomous systems, server applications or middleware.
• Proficiency with simulation tools and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environments.
• Strong expertise with CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred: experience with complex systems, hardware or embedded systems, ROS, white-box testing, and automated testing tooling for GUI and server applications.
