Senior Electrical System Design Engineer

About the role

Leidos' Defense Systems, Electrical Systems Department is looking for a Senior Electrical System Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team in its Huntsville, AL location. The department designs advanced hardware-based solutions, and the engineer supports programs developing electronic assemblies for aerospace and military systems such as manned and unmanned ground and air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars and space systems.

Key responsibilities

• System-level electrical architecture and design
• Create block diagrams, electrical system requirements, cable specifications and cable drawings
• Perform component selection and derating activities
• Carry out new hardware design verification testing
• Support system-level integration activities

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or an equivalent ABET-accredited degree
• 8+ years of experience in hardware system design and test, from architecture through implementation
• Technical problem solving and root cause analysis experience
• Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and communicate effectively
• Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment and debug/test methods
• Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville area

Required skills

• Interpretation of schematics, wiring diagrams and system block diagrams
• Cable design experience
• Proven understanding of fundamental circuits and circuit components
• Preferred: IPC/WHMA-A-620 class 3 and IPC J-STD-001 standards, AS50881 NASA derating standard, SolidWorks Electrical, Creo Schematic, Draftsight or Microsoft Visio, high-power AC distribution design, and experience leading small to mid-sized technical teams

The pay range is $131,300 to $237,350, depending on experience. The posting covers multiple opportunities with different years of experience required.
