Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering and innovative solutions supporting defense, intelligence, energy and civilian missions, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for its Oak Ridge, Tennessee office. The role covers electrical engineering design and construction support, and supports either in-office or remote work, with a strong preference for the Oak Ridge office.

Key responsibilities

• Survey and assess existing facilities and master planning, scope and estimate the level of engineering effort, and report on existing conditions
• Write reports, develop conceptual designs, design drawings, specifications and calculation analyses, and assist with cost estimating and technical review of design packages
• Direct more junior engineering staff on these tasks
• Dispose of NCRs, assess existing designs, respond to RFIs and issue Design Change Notices (DCNs)
• Coordinate with Quality on inspections and support electrical subcontract and service scopes during bidding and construction, including RFI and bid review, shop drawing review, site visits, commissioning support, progress meetings and project closeout

Required profile

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-certified institution and 8+ years of electrical engineering design experience
• Construction support experience for Title 3 activities
• U.S. citizenship required to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
• Preferred: PE license, DOE experience, NQA-1 experience, Arc Flash Analysis experience, and familiarity with instrumentation and controls interfaces

Required skills

• Short circuit analysis and very knowledgeable of the NEC
• Broad knowledge of electrical systems: power system design, substation design, fire alarm, lighting, load flow studies, communications, grounding and equipment selection
• Independent production of sizing calculations and analyses/reports
• Leading groups of engineers and designers, leading technical discussions with clients, and authoring proposals and statements of work (a plus)
