Senior Electrical Engineer - Industrial Power Systems

About the role

Jedson Engineering, an engineering consultancy based in Cincinnati, OH, provides full-service EPCm services to industrial process manufacturers in pulp and paper, chemicals, consumer products, food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries. It is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with extensive experience on industrial projects, working on design of power distribution, lighting and grounding systems, from small facility modifications to complex EPC contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Design power system facilities and equipment and coordinate construction, operation and maintenance of power generating, receiving and distribution stations and systems.
• Develop conceptual layouts and sketches to drive efficient designs, and take part in planning, scheduling and detailed phases of electrical engineering projects.
• Develop equipment specifications, construction specifications and contractor scope of work documents.
• Prepare drawings such as one-line diagrams, wiring drawings, panel layout drawings, motor schematics, instrument loop sheets, conduit and tray routing drawings, and contractor scope documents.
• Inspect completed installations against design, equipment specifications and safety standards.
• Work with systems and equipment grounding requirements (high resistance, building and isolated grounding).
• Provide on-site start-up support; some travel to project and construction sites is required.

Required profile

• Experience designing and installing medium and low-voltage distribution equipment, with experience in consulting engineering and the construction industry.
• Strong communication skills, collaboration and the ability to challenge the status quo.
• Able to handle onsite plant projects with minimal supervision, well organized, able to meet deadlines and stay within budget, and able to work directly with client engineers and maintenance teams.
• PE license or EIT certificate preferred but not required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA).
• Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit.
• CAD capability including AutoCAD.
