Senior Electrical Designer

About the role

Amentum, a global engineering and solutions provider, is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer for its Oak Ridge, Tennessee office. The role covers electrical design functions, including facility models and construction drawings, instrumentation and controls drawings, and complete lighting system design. The work location is Oak Ridge, Tennessee, with remote work allowed.

Key responsibilities

• Develop facility models and construction drawings for electrical systems: plans, one-line diagrams, control diagrams, interconnection diagrams, elevations and details, schedules and bills of materials.
• Produce drawings for instrumentation and controls: system architecture, ladder diagrams, input/output diagrams and instrument data sheets.
• Design lighting systems for buildings and outdoor areas, including fixture selection and model calculations for normal and emergency lighting levels.
• Assist with cost estimating and equipment summaries for bills of materials.

Required profile

• Associate's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• 15 or more years of electrical engineering design experience.
• Construction support experience for Title 3 activities; ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials (U.S. citizenship required).
• Ability to work remotely or hybrid, with a secured location in the U.S.; hybrid workers must be in the office at least 50% of the week, others may travel quarterly.

Required skills

• Short circuit analysis experience.
• Working knowledge of the NEC.
• Independent production of construction documentation in 2-D and 3-D applications such as SmartPlant or Revit.
• Broad knowledge of electrical systems: power system design, substation design, fire alarm design, load flow studies, communications design, grounding design and equipment selection.
• Preferred: DOE experience, NQA-1 experience, lighting calculation experience, and familiarity with 3-D applications.
