Senior EKS/Kubernetes Engineer (Long‑Term Contract)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior EKS/Kubernetes Engineer to design, deploy, and operate mission‑critical Amazon EKS clusters that support petabyte‑scale data processing workloads. The role is focused on high‑availability, fault‑tolerant infrastructure in air‑gapped private VPC environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain production‑grade Amazon EKS clusters for petabyte‑scale processing with high availability.
• Operate in air‑gapped private VPCs, managing secure package repositories and container registries.
• Debug and resolve distributed‑system issues across EKS, Karpenter, and Apache Spark, including scheduling bottlenecks and node‑scaling delays.
• Implement Karpenter consolidation and disruption policies to balance cost optimization with job resiliency.
• Manage spot and on‑demand instance strategies with robust node‑interruption handling.
• Define and enforce ResourceQuotas, LimitRanges, and PriorityClasses to ensure fair resource distribution.
• Configure persistent volume claims using Amazon EBS CSI driver and shared storage with Amazon EFS CSI driver.
• Set up logging, alerting, and anomaly detection for provisioning failures and throughput degradation.

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands‑on IT experience, preferably in large‑scale cloud infrastructure.
• Kubernetes certification (CKA, CKAD, or CKS) and relevant AWS certifications.
• Active contributions to open‑source projects such as Kubernetes, Karpenter, or Spark.
• Familiarity with FinOps practices and cost optimization at scale.
• Background in data engineering or analytics platforms.
