Senior Director, Controller

About the role

Lycia Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Director, Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting during a critical growth phase. Reporting to the SVP, Finance, you will own the integrity of the company’s financial statements and partner with senior leadership and the audit committee on complex accounting matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end financial close process, including general ledger, AP, payroll, and accruals.
• Serve as the primary technical accounting resource for complex transactions such as collaboration agreements, equity instruments, clinical‑trial accruals, in‑process R&D, and lease accounting.
• Prepare and maintain financial statements and supporting schedules in Workiva, ensuring audit‑ready disclosures.
• Lead the annual audit and quarterly reviews, coordinating with external auditors and managing audit timelines.
• Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance in partnership with external tax advisors.
• Design and maintain a robust internal control environment aligned with public company accounting standards.
• Direct treasury operations, including cash management, banking relationships, and short‑term investments.
• Administer equity accounting, ensuring accurate stock‑based compensation expense and cap table reporting.
• Manage NetSuite as the system of record, collaborating with IT and FP&A on chart‑of‑accounts governance and reporting enhancements.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in U.S. GAAP financial reporting and audit leadership.
• Proven ability to handle complex accounting topics in a high‑growth biotech environment.
• Strong communication skills to interact with senior executives and audit committees.
