Senior DevOps Engineer - Platform Engineering
Hard Rock Digital
Job description
About the role
Hard Rock Digital is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join its growing Product & Technology organization. The role is platform engineering focused: instead of only maintaining infrastructure, you will design and build self-service workflows, golden paths and developer tooling on top of Backstage, the internal developer platform. You will partner with product engineering teams to turn their pain points into self-serve capabilities such as provisioning, CI/CD, environments and observability, and you will use AI coding assistants and agentic tooling to deliver faster.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build and operate the internal developer platform on Backstage, including software catalog, templates, plugins and scorecards.
- Create golden-path templates and self-service workflows (Backstage templates, Terraform/Terragrunt modules, CI/CD scaffolding) so product teams can provision infrastructure and environments without tickets.
- Architect and implement scalable AWS and hybrid-cloud infrastructure with Terraform/Terragrunt, exposed through self-service interfaces.
- Build and optimize highly available containerized environments with EKS, Kubernetes and Docker, made available as platform primitives.
- Lead the automation strategy for CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) with reusable, self-service patterns.
- Embed security and compliance guardrails, identity and access controls and policy-as-code into the platform.
- Partner with product engineering, SRE, QA, security and operations teams to improve developer experience and velocity.
- Track developer experience and platform adoption metrics (lead time, self-service usage, ticket deflection).
- Use AI coding assistants, agentic automation and LLM-powered tooling to accelerate platform delivery.
Required profile
- 5+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE or similar, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
- Hands-on experience building or operating an internal developer platform (Backstage strongly preferred), including catalog design, templates and custom plugins.
- Track record of self-service workflows and golden paths that reduce toil and ticket volume.
- Fluency with AI development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc.) integrated into infrastructure workflows, code review and incident response.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction in cross-functional teams.
Required skills
- Expert AWS services and cloud-native architectures (multi-account, VPC, IAM, networking)
- Kubernetes (EKS preferred), Docker and Helm
- Terraform/Terragrunt with modular, reusable designs
- CI/CD with GitHub Actions, ArgoCD or similar
- Observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, Datadog) and security hardening
- Scripting with Python, Bash, TypeScript/Node.js or similar
- AWS Professional Certification (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer or SysOps Administrator) strongly preferred
What we offer
- Competitive pay and benefits
- Flexible vacation allowance
- Hybrid / remote working environment
- Startup culture backed by a secure, global brand
