Senior Data/ML Engineer – Onboarding

About the role

Sardine is seeking a Senior Data/ML Engineer to own the data and machine‑learning foundation behind its compliance decisions. You will design, build, and maintain end‑to‑end pipelines that ingest telemetry, transaction events, KYC signals and third‑party enrichments, turning them into reliable features and models that power real‑time fraud and AML decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and operate streaming (Pub/Sub, Apache Beam, Flink) and batch (Airflow, Spark) pipelines that are observable, cost‑effective and extensible.
• Build and evolve a feature platform that serves both streaming and batch workloads with aggregation windows from one hour to 300 days.
• Productionize fraud and identity ML models on Vertex AI/Kubeflow, including training, automated retraining, champion/challenger promotion and rollback.
• Engineer KYC, AML and identity risk signals from noisy, multi‑vendor data sources into model‑ready features.
• Define and enforce data governance policies such as field‑level encryption, regional residency and PII deletion.

Required profile

• 8+ years building production data and ML systems with ownership of both pipelines and models.
• Deep Python expertise and strong SQL skills.
• Hands‑on experience with distributed processing frameworks (Spark, Beam or Flink) and streaming semantics.
• Proven ability to ship models that drive automated decisions in regulated domains such as fraud, risk or KYC.
