Senior Data Scientist - AI Research

About the role

Lyra Health is a provider of evidence-based mental health care, serving millions of people through partnerships with employers and health plans. It is looking for a self-driven, technical Data Scientist who cares about impact, ownership and innovation. You will work closely with the Data, Product, Engineering and Clinical teams on AI/ML initiatives that improve the experience of mental health patients and providers. The role can be filled remotely anywhere in the US, or locally at the Burlingame, CA headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Data, Product, Engineering and other teams to improve the Lyra platform for providers and clients.
• Become an expert in the data collected and partner with data engineers to build pipelines that apply clinical logic to raw data.
• Extract actionable insights, develop predictive and generative models and implement evaluation frameworks to support product iterations.
• Complete time-sensitive ad hoc data requests for internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• 5+ years of data analysis in an industry setting; product analytics experience in AI/ML and collaboration with engineering and product teams is preferred.
• Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders across technical, business and ideally clinical domains.
• Demonstrated understanding of statistical methods (experimentation, probability, regression) and experience applying hypothesis testing.
• Experience building analyses from irregular data from disparate sources, and willingness to clean messy data.
• Graduate-level statistics coursework; an MS in a quantitative field (statistics, econometrics, biostatistics, quantitative social sciences) is preferred.

Required skills

• Strong SQL, including complex queries across multiple schemas and tables; creating views is preferred.
• Preferred: interest in public health.
• Preferred: AI/ML R&D such as prompt engineering and RAG.
• Preferred: Python for data cleaning, JSON parsing, API calls, user-defined functions and automation.
