Senior Data Scientist – Advanced ML & Cloud Infrastructure

About the role

The Data & Analytics Office at the New York Fed is looking for a senior data scientist to lead advanced analytics initiatives and build robust, equitable models. You will work closely with business stakeholders to translate complex problems into data‑driven solutions while shaping the bank’s data strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business challenges into analytics use cases and prioritize them with stakeholders.
• Design, develop, and deploy accurate, robust, and equitable analytical models.
• Leverage cutting‑edge ML infrastructure, AI/GenAI/LLM platforms, and GPU‑accelerated computing.
• Architect enterprise‑scale systems and optimize distributed workloads (Ray, MPI, Apache Spark, Dask).
• Manage Kubernetes operations (especially EKS) and optimize cloud workloads on AWS.
• Implement cloud cost‑optimization strategies and performance profiling techniques.
• Provide technical communication and guidance to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Lead and mentor other data scientists within the team.

Required profile

• Extensive experience applying advanced analytics and machine‑learning techniques.
• Proven ability to lead data‑science projects and mentor junior team members.
• Strong stakeholder‑management skills across technical and business domains.
• Strategic planning capability and experience developing roadmaps for data initiatives.
