Senior Data Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the fast‑moving Data & Analytics team at 9amHealth. In this hands‑on, full‑stack position you will own and evolve the data platform that powers clinical operations, business intelligence and AI initiatives. You will work closely with product, engineering and analytics stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows in Python using AWS Glue, Apache Spark, Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
• Write production‑grade Python code for data‑warehouse logic, reporting jobs, transformations and internal tooling, following software‑engineering best practices (testing, code review, CI/CD).
• Develop and optimise analytical data models (dimensional, OBT or hybrid) for self‑service BI and advanced analytics.
• Build and maintain dashboards, explores and semantic layers in Looker and/or Tableau, ensuring data quality and governance.
• Contribute backend application code in Java (Spring Boot) or Python to support data‑intensive features, API integrations and internal services.
• Champion AI‑assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude or Cursor to accelerate delivery.
• Author and maintain complex SQL assets (stored procedures, views, queries) across Redshift, Aurora/MySQL and Athena.
• Operate and optimise AWS data infrastructure including Glue, S3, Redshift, CloudFormation and related services.

Required profile

• Strong software‑engineering mindset with deep experience in Python development.
• Comfortable working in a startup environment where ownership is broad and speed matters.
• Ability to produce production‑quality code and follow rigorous engineering standards.
